Fresh from the Tree Lemonade

Our darling friends, Rachel and Naomi, gave us a bunch of lemons from their backyard tree. Big, sweet, juicy lemons. So we pulled out my mom's old juicer from the top cupboard, I dragged a couple chairs into the kitchen, and the girls got to work.

They were a little tenative at first. The electric juicer spins pretty fast, and it makes a whirring noise. But they got the hang of it after a bit.

After we mixed in some cold water, sugar and ice, the girls took a sip. Cutie LOVED it and wanted more. Sweetie said, "I just want some milk."

Yeah, she's all about milk. Oh well.

Anyway, here's what we did:

Mix 1 cup lemon juice, 4 cups water, 2/3 cup sugar with ice.

So fresh and summery. Yum.

Here is the lemonade recipie that i use it takes a little longer but is the BEST LEMONADE EVER. You need 5 cups cold water, 2 1/2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel, and 2 1/2 cups lemon juice.
In Pan on stove dissolve the sugan in the water, bring to boil then remove from heat. Let cool while you juice lemon and grate lemon peel. ONce all is done mix everything together, cool and enjoy!
I can bring hyou some more lemons if you need them!

Hope you made jello to fill those lemon "cups". It makes the perfect snack. Fill your empty 1/2 with jello. Let firm and then cut into wedges. Orange empties work good too.

Bummer. I didn't even think of that! What a great idea! Next time.
