Apple Cinnamon Hoodies

The girls and I made this dessert for Pop Pop's birthday celebration. In the hustle of packing everyone and everything in the car, the pan got left on the hood of our van. We drove about a mile before we figured it out. Thank goodness our "Hoodies" {get it?} didn't fly off!
and thanks Letti Byrd for this wonderful recipe!

It is PERFECT for kids to help with. They loved the hands-on gooey process of rolling the apple slices up in the dough.
Even though it didn't look pretty when they were making it, it turned out great and tasted like heaven!
2 Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup Mountain Dew
cinnamon
Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

Enjoy!

You are so crazy! Driving down the street with apple cinnamon hoodies on the roof of your car? I'm glad they didn't fly off. I must admit though, they look delicious. I might just need to make myself some hoodies. (Please have some prepared for me when I come over.)
