Art Boxes - Decoupage

I wanted to create little art boxes the girls could use independently, so they decorated these plain white boxes with animal pictures cut out from magazines. They used a glue stick to adhere the pictures where they wanted them. Sticky!

Then their FAVORITE part- they painted over the whole surface with Mod Podge to seal their pictures.
They are so excited to have their own special art box. They've been taking them everywhere-the car, all over the house.... We'll take them on vacation, too.

The boxes contain, paper and paper scraps, a washable glue stick, their initial hole punch, scissors and washable markers.

I made something similar for my kiddos (I should have let them decorate them, as you did!) and I added velcro to the top and side so they didn't open up all over everything. I've been glad I did more than once!

My mom did this with all my kids years ago and it was the best thing ever. They love pulling out their "Busy Box" at grandma's house. Theirs also have stickers, beads, left over greeting cards, ribbon, etc. Great idea!

I discovered your blog through Crafty Crow. I'd love to get my hands on some of those boxes! Where did you get them? Thanks.
