Palm Springs Pinwheels

On our way back from Palm Springs, we pulled over in the 105 degree weather to admire the windmills. (or wind turbine generators. Yeah, I just googled it.) And we let the same gusts of wind spin our own homemade pinwheels.

Each wind turbine generator costs around $300,000. But we made ours for about 25 cents. All you need is an unsharpened pencil with an eraser, a thumbtack, a square sheet of paper and a pair of scissors. Get directions here.

Although, I'm not sure how many kilowatts of energy ours produced.

We really got our pinwheels spinning! Aside from the insufferable heat, it was a hoot.

My kids love watching those things. Man you were so close to me. One of these days we need to meet up.

Love the pinwheels. Do you live in Northern Cali? We have wind turbines near Livormore on the Altamont Pass.

I don't comment often, but I wanted you to know I faithfully read your posts. My daughter is still too young for most of your ideas (18 mo), but I am still inspired by your creativity. Thank you...

Oh, and I love the picture of you reading to your girls in the post below.

We were down by those windmills in June! Aren't they just an amazing sight?? My youngest son thought they were airplanes and he couldn't understand why they wouldn't take off!! Oh, and I love your spin the bottle idea! I'm going to try that one!
