There's a little coffee shop on the coast that serves amazing Mexican hot chocolate. It's sweet and has a little kick. Amazing.
This recipe tastes just like it! The chili powder might sound strange, but trust me, it's delicious!
3 Tablespoons instant hot chocolate mix
1 Tablespoon chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of chili powder
1 Tablespoon chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of chili powder
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup boiling water
In a large mug, mix the hot chocolate mix, chocolate syrup, cinnamon, and chili powder. Add the boiling water and stir. Pour in the milk and stir again.
Add marshmallows or whipped cream, sit back and enjoy.

Hi Chrissie, Can you tell me what kind of camera you shoot these amazing photos with? I'm a mom looking for a newer, better digital camera and your shots are amazing - although I know the photographer has a lot to do with it!!! Love your blog.
Our camera is a Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital Elph.
We bought it about 3 years ago. It's a great little point-and-shoot.
I use www.Picnik.com to do my photo editing, and that REALLY helps make the pictures look better. And it's free.
Your blog is one of my favorites!! Thanks for all the adorable, creative ideas!! And...I am going to try this recipe!
I cannot wait to try this! I have looked for a recipe simliar after watching the movie "Chocolate" she makes her Hot Cocoa with pepper! I also tried some chocolate bars in Germany in 2006 that had peppers in it too but that was too hot to taste! I love your site, I look on it daily for ideas for the little guys that I care for daily.
Sounds unique and delicious! I'm going to have to give it a try!
um....YUM!
and yes, the pic looks wonderful!
yummmmmmm
Glad you posted the recipe. It was on my list for Fall/Winter activities and have heard "mexican" hot chocolate is the best!
With this cooler weather...this looks yummy!
Yum I can't wait to try this when it gets a little cooler. I love hot chocolate.
