Watercolor Crayon Resist

I used a white crayon to draw a secret picture on a white sheet of paper. I drew lots of hearts, dots, lines, and squiggles. It was a little tough to know what I was doing, but I just went for it.

The girls painted over the entire page with watercolors, watching excitedly as the picture appeared.

They turned out beautiful, and it was such fun.

I used to LOVE this as a kid. At 3 years old, I know my daughter would be so amazed by this. Thanks for sharing the idea...we'll have to give it a try here at our house for some winter boredom busters.

Oh My, wouldn't that be so fun on Valentine's Day to do a small little message with one of those tiny watercolor kits and put it in their lunch box! Who Hoo, what a Great idea you've given me. Thank you

What a fun thing to do for my children as a Valentine surprise at the School Party.
It would also be fun to have my school children do this for each other.
They love things with secret code. They could write something to each other:)
Great fun...thanks.
Have a good Day.

Oh, what good idea! I think I'll try that. You are such a fun mom.

Are you a teacher currently? How do you find the time to do all of these wonderful things with the girls?

How old are your girls? :) I'm waiting until projects become fun, haha They all seem to be so much work .. they want ME to do - they watch. Frustrating... waiting for them to grow just a little!

Thank you, we did this today! I actually drew on his valentine envelopes and he painted them. He had fun ... and so did I (& you are right, kinda hard to see what you're doing, LOL). Thanks for the great tips, as always - we do at least one of your activities each week. I find they are easy to adapt to my (just turned) 3 year old boy too!!!

That is such a great idea--It would be a perfect Valentine Day craft for my two young daughters. Thanks for sharing!

BTW, I read all of your 'chapters' and I am so happy that you and your husband found these two sweet girls to care for. My family took in foster children when I was in high school and I think that experience sparked my interest in social work. They are both so beautiful! I look forward to reading your upcoming chapters.
