Salt Dough and Mod Podge Hearts

We made this simple salt dough this morning.
Here's the recipe:

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
3/4 cup hot water

Mix all three ingredients with a wooden spoon or your hands until the dough becomes smooth. Cut your shapes, and make sure to poke a hole in each one to thread ribbon through. Microwave the pieces for 2 to 4 minutes, depending on your microwave.

We used heart-shaped cookie cutters with our salt dough. After the dough hardened in the microwave and cooled, we slathered on some Mod Podge and poured on the glitter.

Didn't they turn out cute? So sparkly and festive.

I didn't know this could be microwaved, that's good to know. The baking time is about an hour on these, and that's a hassle to have the oven going that long.
YAY! Today's project!

I love it!!! Did you put mod podge or anything ontop of the glitter too? This will be perfect to add to the package for grandma and grandpa!

Ooh, those are so cute! The glitter really makes them festive.

I had no idea about microwaving--we're still waiting for our salt dough conversation hearts from yesterday to dry! (they're over on kiddio :)
