Blackberry and Goat Cheese Salad

My twin sister, Lisa, and I have formed a little partnership for healthier living. We are both attempting to do the following:

  • Eat smaller portions.
  • Eat less sweets.
  • Write down every thing we eat in a notebook.
  • Exercise daily (just move - even a short walk.)
  • Read Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink (great, great book!)
We can't do these things together {boo}, because we live 250 miles apart. But we talk on the phone daily and ask each other how it's going.

I made this yummy little salad for lunch the other day.

Here are the ingredients:

Baby lettuce
candied pecans
chopped apple
grapes
blackberries
goat cheese
raspberry vinaigrette

Delish!

So, when we reach our {very reasonable} goal weights we are going to take our sexy little selves on a little sisters-only-no-kids-allowed-talking-shopping-napping-coffee-drinking-movie-watching-weekend getaway.

Very motivating!

This couldn't have come at a better time! I have to do something about this 40+ pounds that I have gained in less than two years of marriage and that book looks like just what I need. I told my husband last night that I can't be like this anymore and I need to do something, I hope this book helps. Good luck to you two!

Sounds like a great reward to work toward! Your salad is lovely. I've jotted down the recipe and would like to use it this summer for our gourmet club. It is so pretty to look at!

Now you have me rather regretting the Hershey bar that is sitting next to me as I blog. :( I've been feeling the urge to get out and enjoy this spring weather, and have felt the nudge toward lighter, fresher foods. (With the exception of my friend Hershey here.)

It is fun that you and your sister can encourage each other and spur one another on. It is always more fun to work on a goal when you have someone to share it with.

Yummm... oh my, that looks like Summer in a bowl. I love it!

Writing down everything you eat in a notebook really does work. I had gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy, but was able to control it with diet and exercise. The food journal helped so much. I didn't want to write down anything I wasn't proud of, so if it was junk food or sweets, I just wouldn't eat it.
