Family Movie and Pizza Night

I'd rather dine on pizza and Coke than make reservations. And I'd rather curl up on the couch under a soft blanket with my family than fight crowds to see a movie in the theater.

A couple nights ago, we watched Kung Fu Panda as a family. We paused the movie halfway through to take Alfred (the dog) on an evening walk around the neighborhood.

Pizza delivery, a movie, a walk, and being at home with my family are my idea of the perfect evening.

That doese sound rather perfect. Especially here where it is cool and rainy!

Might have to give that at try tonight or over the weekend. We are in the throws of sports season here, but with wet weather practices may not happen.

Might have to allow myself to break the "no eating in the living room" rule for this, but well worth it!!!

The pizza looks so good! Bet the girls had a ball!

Sounds so fun! I love that you paused to go on a family walk!

I'm reading the (amazing) book "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" and she talks about how her family has pizza (homemade) every Friday. They make their pizza with seasonal toppings from their garden and then watch movies together as a family and sometimes with friends who come over to join them.

The ritual of doing it every week relieves the stress of thinking up a meal one more time at the end of a long week, and it probably prevents last-minute decisions to just go out to dinner instead (and thereby saves a few bucks too).

I hope to start this tradition soon. :)

WOW! That sounds PERFECT. Really, PERFECT. Makes me want to do the same too. And what a great way to promote a unified family and some bonding.

Thanks for inspiring me today!

We've just started doing movie night too - because we wanted a little something special to do with our 4yr old after the baby goes to sleep. But we do it with popcorn and candy instead of pizza, since we have to eat our meal earlier with the 1yr old!
We also do a "Sunday Sundae bar" - and spend our time talking about all the fun stuff we did over the weekend, and what we're looking forward to in the upcoming week.
These kinds of traditions are so important!

Oh, me too! Me too!!! Movie nights are my favorite thing in my life right now! And, of course, the movie is always animated and wonderful and sweet... just like my kiddos! Not having to cook ... well, that is just icing on the cake! :o)

Sounds good to me too. My four year old has a hard time sitting through some movies that are full length, as opposed to a 30 minute cartoon. I never thought of offering an "intermission" where we go for a walk or something! Great idea - thank your dog! :)

awww, looks like fun. we do a Family Movie night each Friday and make a dinner to go along with the movie; the kids usually help and we all have a fun night together. here's one we did:

That does sound just about perfect. I agree that "staying in" is often much more relaxing and fun than going out to restaurants or the movie theater.

And that pizza looks yummy. Where did you order it from?
