Homemade Strawberry Jam

When I was growing up my mom made jam from the fresh plums in our backyard. It was so, so good.

Yesterday we made jam from fresh strawberries.

The recipe on the box of fruit pectin in so easy. All you need is 1 quart strawberries, 4 cups sugar (mmm... that must be what makes it so good,) and pectin.

The girls actually started clapping their hands when they tasted their sweet creation.

Making strawberry jam is going to be our spring tradition.

My Mom always made preserves when I was growing up--from fresh Maine strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. This post makes me miss her, and smile.

We made a years worth of jam every summer when I was a kid. I have continued on the tradition because I am so spoiled that I can not start store-bought strawberry jam.

How awesome!

We did this a couple years back. The kids were all in for about the first of 3 batches. Oh - well - we're still enjoying the fruits of my labor.

What an awesome mom!!!

I can remember long ago picking blackberries out in front of my grandma's trailer. We would take all the berries home and press them. Mom would do something amazing and before you knew it... BLACKBERRY JAM. It was the best thig a kid could possibly eat.

I can't wait to try making the strawberry preserves with my boys. You make it look so much easier than I remember.

Thanks for sharing.
