Hand, Hand, Fingers Thumb by Al Perkins

We love a book with a groovy rhyme, so a reader suggested we check out this book. I headed over to Amazon to put it on our wish list, but thought I'd better check the girls' bookshelf before buying it.

Sure enough, there it was in the girls' room! It had been my husband's book when he was a little boy, and we had added his picture books to the girls' collection. Yay!

I pulled it out, and we cuddled up to read it. So much fun. It's rather addicting, actually, and has a great beat. A new (but old) favorite.

Will have to go check that one out!

Have you seen the new Llama Llama book? We were at Target last week and ended up buying hardcovers of all 3 Llama books for our collection. So fun!

Thanks for the hint on the book!

WE love it too. I find myself reciting it for hours after we read it because it is so catchy.

I have a new-found-favorite book suggestion for you and the girls. We picked this up at the library last week, and my almost-4-yo almost has it memorized, we've read it so often. I even caught my 9yo singing the "chorus" of the rhyme book. It's wonderfully illustrated, too!

My husband loves to read that one to the kids. And Sandra Boynton's Barnyard Dance. He likes to ham up the square dance calls and the kids love to dance to it.

I don't know if I've read that one. It looks like a good one though. I just bookmarked the Amazon.com page for the book so I can go back and look at it later...

This book was my DH's as well and then it became part of a nightly ritual with our oldest son when he was a toddler. I could recite the entire book without seeing a single page :) I still have parts of it down.
As much as I know Bren loved that book, I am glad Jack, the next child, did not request it every single night, but had his own favorite for me to memorize instead.

I have SUCH good memories of this book from when I was little! I had completely forgotten about it, until I saw your post- memories of my mother (who passed away a little over a year ago) and I reading together. Thanks for this post!

That book has been one of my son's favorites from when he was around 9 months old. We drum on the book while we read. I like to read it with a beatnik vibe. Love it!
