We had a little math party with our homeschooling friends, and this is one of the super fun games we played.
I used foam sheets (less slippery) and a sharpie to write out the 10s. Each of the ten tiles contained a number - 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100.
We put the tiles in a circle and the kids walked around the circle while we sang a song about counting by 10. When I shouted, "Stop," the child standing on the last number we sang won that round. Check out itunes to find fun songs about counting by 10. We used the one by Twin Sister Productions called "Count by Ten." Fitting, huh?
With fewer children, you could shout, "Stop," and then have the kids run to the last number sung.
They wanted to play again and again, so they got lots of wonderful practice counting by 10!

Thank you for this idea! My precious son just informed me last night that he wasn't in the "100 Club" at school because he couldn't count to 100! Ugh! I will be making this tonight and we will be practicing!

What a great idea! My two and a half year old loves to count, and got as far as 30 the other day, we were floored. I think it has a lot to do with this new video he loves to watch called "Cranium's Ark: I Can Count to 20!" and they have a new one coming out soon called "I Can Count Higher than 100!"--it's a continuation of the one we have. I haven't seen it in stores, just online (http://craniumsark.com).
Great tip to use foam so it wouldn't slip!!

So cute! To this day, my son's "lucky" number is nine, since that is the number he was standing on when he won a cake at the bakery inside our local grocery store. Such funny little things seem to settle in their memories.
Learning is always more fun when it is a game, and I always love your creativity!
