From plain ole white to cheerful cherry red. Amazing what a bit of spray paint, an electric sander and brown shoe polish can do!
As we were working on our math today, one of the girls asked, "Do we look smarter, now that the table is red?"
My response, "Oh, definitely. You've never looked so smart!"
Look at the extreme concentration. One's even got the Michael Jordan tongue going. Yeah, we're doing some intense learning here.
And did you notice how short their hair is?

Thank you for updating! Miss you guys :)
XOXO
Love the bright red table! I painted my son's table and chairs red too. So cheery! My son does the "Michael Jordan" tongue when he concentrates too (just like my husband!). Love that!
YAY!!! I've been missing the current happenings at your house. Are you still working on your big "project?" I'd love some details...
Hope all is well!
Darn it Jim - all these years mine stayed white!! UGH! Yours is so much smarter. 14 years and it is still white. Yep - the teens still put stuff on that table - we use the small chairs for stuff close to the ground - assembling furniture, sorting, etc. Oh, the cat owns one for getting on the bed! hee hee. Thanks for you blog - love your ideas!
So glad to see your blog show up in my Blogger Dashboard again! Missed seeing all the fun stuff you and your girls are up to.
The table looks FAB! And yes, they look PHD smart now!
I love the table and their hair! Great job!
Love the table and chairs. Care to share HOW you did it? And how shoe polish played a part? Inquiring minds want to know!
Love the red! And I noticed that cute faced little pup too. ;-) Miss seeing you!!
me missing your blog means that you are having an AMAZING time being a mommy....just how it should be. Love the new hair styles.

I love it!!
i love the table! are you opposed to sharing how you did it? i have been wanting to "redo" some of our own pieces. i haven't ever done it and wondered how you do it? shoe polish? i can see it in the table and chairs....do you do that before or after the spray paint? if you don't mind sharing, i would love to read about it!
thanks for all your good ideas you always share with us! i enjoy your blog!

Here's how I painted the table:
I used three cans of Cherry Red spray paint {glossy} to cover the white table and two chairs thoroughly.
I thought I would be done then, but when I put the table back into the room it looked just so red and glossy. {What was I expecting?} It looked obnoxious and I regretted ever starting the project.
The next day I dragged the table back out into the front yard and put the electric sander to it. I had no plan really, I just wanted it to look less red and less glossy.
It looked better. It was an improvement. But I thought a little brown shoe polish might help balance the red and the sanded areas. I sponged it on haphazardly and spread it around with a paper towel.
So, all in all, not a scientific process. I had no idea what I was doing from start to finish. It was more just trial and error than anything else. I'm just grateful I like the finished product.
LOVE the red table. Also love that you are homeschooling. We love it...and yes, it keeps you busy and on your toes.
Love the table. What a fun color!
