The girls informed me they were through with making necklaces from wooden beads and shoelaces. They wanted to make a REAL necklace. After all, they are 5 and three quarters. So, I pulled out the glass beads, nylon coated wire, clasps, crimp beads and needle-nosed pliers to show them how it's done.
It was a perfect opportunity to talk about patterning, and they both settled on the blue, pink, blue, pink design. They hung in there, even though it took patience and a bit of time. When they finished they asked, "When can we start hammering metal, like Aunt Lisa?"
Ummm...wow...they are ambitious!

What a fun activity - my 7 year old would love to loose the wooden beads and upgrade!
