There were squeals of excitement when we took this cardboard rocket from Color Me House out of the box and started assembling it. One girl declared, "We'll never be bored again!" What a treat!
The next day we got to work painting. We used blue and red for the 4th of July. Crayola Washable Tempera paint was great because we got it everywhere.
There has been non-stop play inside their rocket playhouse since the paint dried. They've hauled blankets, stuffed animals and snacks out there, and the two of them fit just perfectly inside together.
Here's the best part: We're giving one away! Leave a comment telling us your favorite 4th of July activity or tradition. I'll announce the winner on Saturday.
And here's a code for $10 off your next order at Color Me House: itsablast
Have fun!

My FAVORITE part of the 4th of July has to be my birthday! Technically my birthday is on the 2nd but we have always celebrated on the holiday weekend! When I was younger I always thought the fireworks just for me!
We love to go watch the huge fireworks as a family and roast marshmallows!
We celebrate my nephew's birthday and of course, fireworks!
For the past few years we have headed up North to cooler weather (I live in Phoenix) and enjoyed fireworks in a small town environment!
We're only going on our 2nd year of this "tradition", but we join my brother-in-law's family at the river near their house in Boone, NC, and just spend the day fishing and playing in the water, watching the college kids float happily by. Great times with family!
We usually spend the day at the lake: swimming, boating, and fishing. Good times!

My favorite tradition is just being with family and watching the fireworks in our city. This year will be extra special because our son isn't a newborn this year! :)
The local parade has been our family's favorite part of the 4th of July. Plus my oldest daughter's birthday is the 5th...she thinks the parade and fireworks are just for her. She is my firecracker baby (only one day late)!
Taking my son to see fireworks after little sister was asleep last year was the best. I've always loved fireworks, and now he does, too. :)
(Talk about serendipity! I've spent the last hour looking for rocket graphics to make my son's invitations for his fifth birthday next month, and here's a rocket!! I've been underemployed for six months now, and it's been really hard to figure out how to make his birthday special...he'd go nuts over something like this!)
This is so cool!
We have a tradition on camping with the whole family and bringing our own fire works. He make smores and play games and the kids get to stay up late with their cousins!
looks like fun...especially the messy painting!
my favorite part has to be the fireworks and all the squeals of excitement and awe!
I love watching my boys watching the fireworks. Seeing the Awe in their eyes as they experience it afresh and exciting. I love eating watermelon and holding sparklers and carrying the sleeping boys in to bed after a long fun day.
Love that rocket! Reminds me of getting an appliance box...fun fun stuff. Sasha would love it!
We travel to Fresno from our home in SoCal to visit the grandparents. They take us to the zoo, and then we spend the week swimming in their pool. On the 4th, we have a fun firework show out in front of the garage. Lots of fun times with family!
For the last 3 years my family lived away from our family while my husband was in training. On the first fourth of July there we knew no one and it was my husband's first day of work. I decided I would take my toddler to a nearby park. Much to my surprise and delight we happened upon a neighborhood parade complete with delicious cupcakes and lemonade for all. That became our tradition for the next two years. All year long I crave the red velvet, cream cheese iced cupcakes and the spirit of community and national pride.
We have a huge family reunion at my mom and dad's house on the lake. My dad has an old car that we accompany in an old fashioned parade. My whole family distributes candy to the parade goers. Then, we go back to eat together, watch fireworks and toast s'mores. I love that my whole family shares this tradition. The grandkids say it's the best day of the year after their birthday and Christmas.
Oh my! My kiddos wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they saw that in the house! They are rocketship-CRAZY!!!!
Believe it or not, going to my in-laws! Best day of the year, everyone is there and it's jammed pack fun!
We head to the lake house every year and spend time with family.,,nothing better!
XOXO
We like to watch fireworks and then sleep in the tent in the backyard :)
What a fun giveaway...never seen one of these. Best tradition - staying up late to watch the fireworks. Of course. Magical.
Cheer from Utah
oh -- i can see my boys disappearing in that rocket for hours! i might have to come up with some dress up astronaut attire WHEN we win! ;)
Really fun - apropos for us at the moment - out little Elliot has been pretending the couch is his space ship. How fun it would be to have a real/pretend one! ;) Thanks!
The 4th of July is my favorite holiday! Every year, my family and I go to a nearby park where our small (but growing) city puts on a pretty amateur fireworks show. Half the fun is watching to see if the field will catch on fire!
We always go to a little local event that offers fun crafts, local performers, and yummy food. I would love to go to the beach but it just too crowded...
Driving from Oregon back to my hometown of Coeurd'Alene, Idaho for the huge fireworks display down on the lake. We all love it!
our neighborhood has started a tradition of having a block party for the afternoon - our street is packed full of little girls to bigger girls from ages 6 months to 15 years old and they have loads of fun playing in kid pools, water balloon fights, face painting, and eating yummy food. someone brings out a BBQ and we roast up hot dogs and slice up the watermelon. lots of fun and we all look forward to it every summer.
love this giveaway - my little girls absolutely love anything to do with space, very fun!
That is so fun!!! My favorite part of the 4th of July are trips to my mom's cabin where we watch fireworks on the lake.
It's usually different each year, but it is always celebrated with family. We've gone to the lake, the park, watched parades.
Wow! My kids would love this!
My favorite part of the holiday is the fireworks!
what a fun activity
i really enjoy our local pet parade. the kids are so cute with the dressed up animals.
I love the simple joy of the holiday. No requirements except to have fun and enjoy each others company! Watermelon, hamburgers, Frogmore Stew (kinds like Lowcountry Boil), fireworks, kayaking, water guns, pinwheels, bike rides...all for the red, white, and blue :)
Watermelon and fireworks. It doesn't take much to keep us happy.
We are Canadian so we celebrate on the 1st - same principle though... parades, fireworks, and french fries!
Our family escapes the heat of Phoenix, Arizona and heads up to a small town where we watch fireworks at the end of rodeo. Many memories have been created there and I can't wait to make many more!
I love the family-ness of the 4th! We usually just have a slow-spend-time-together kind of day. Followed up with some firework fun or a cook out or two with friends and family.
My girls, like yours, would lose themselves in the rocket -- pick me, pick me!
Oops, forgot to put my fave 4th of July activity...we always go watch fireworks together as a family and have a cookout with church family. :)
Camping with the whole family is the highlight of the year!
My favorite part of the 4th was basically the whole day. Every year it was the same thing. Parade downtown and getting as much candy as we could grab! Followed by a picnic at a family friends'. Here we always had my favorite desert- dirt & worms! Then we lit the sparklers and our own fireworks. Following that was the fairgrounds fireworks show- always amazing! I loved being able to stay out late with friends for this show- even if our parents were near. It gave me a feeling of independence(ha!) and a taste of being grown up.
FUN!! our boys would LOVE that! i think my favorite 4th of july tradition is a bbq. who can resist that? i definitely try to avoid fireworks. i've NEVER liked them. way too loud!
Our Fireworks are right by the DQ so we always enjoy a treat with our show!
My parents live in a small town on a lake...we watch fireworks from their boat in the middle of the lake...everyone gets a great view that way!
Wow! What a great rocket playhouse!
We have moved around a lot over the last few years, but our family gets matching flag shirts from Old Navy and finds the community firework show.
I love the 4th of July. Getting together with family outdoors, BBQ, watermelon, homemade ice cream, sparklers, and a fireworks show. And some founding father's trivia thrown in.
Thanks for such a fun giveaway!
our favorite Fourth of July activity is a local parade held about 20 minutes away. it's a very large, very fun, 2-hour parade. we bring breakast & snacks, plenty of red, white & blue decorations & lots of friends & family to share the day with.
Our family has gone down to the Mission Viejo lake to watch fireworks for years. Though I miss out on it some years, since we are down in San Diego now, that will always be 4th of July to me.
Since we live in a campground all summer, my favorite activity is the golf cart parade which showcases the campers creativity in decorating for the special day. Some are just awesome. My grandkids would adore this house.
Thank you.

Watching fireworks at the lake!
Family. Food. Fireworks!!!
Dancing on the street with my bf Katie during a neighborhood chili cookoff block party! We have been doing this for 28 years!!!
Watching the city firework display with my family sitting on a blanket together...and of course sparklers.
Our favorite activity is our annual family picnic, complete with an activities coordinator (a nominated family member) who plans games for all ages!
My favorite activity is to go to the park behind our house and set off our own fireworks display. It is always a big hit for all the family- every year it gets bigger and bigger.

fireworks and corn on the cob!
Those little TNT poppers full of paper ribbons. I think my son likes the power, and my daughter saves the paper ribbons for . . .later. Just like I am still tempted to do. They're so pretty, I hate to let them go.
our favorite 4th of july tradition would be since we don't go to the fire works (scares my youngest) we stay home (luckly we can see them from our town park but they aren't that loud) and roast smores over the fire pit, catch fireflies and watch fireworks from afar.
we love the fireworks. soooo exciting every year.
BBQ and pool time with family - its just perfect!
A picnic on the lake and fireworks!
for years we have decided to avoid the crowds and the oppressive Phoenix heat and have an indoor picnic while watching the Capital Fourth from DC on PBS (in our younger pre-kid years we lived there and went in person)---the Symphony and fireworks

Fireworks!!!!!!!!!
We always celebrate 4th of July at my parent's place as it's my mom's b-day. However, this year we will also be spending time with friends as we celebrate the return of one of them from their service in Iraq.
I love the small town feel of going home to my parents for the 4th of July! Hometown parade, Fireman's festival, fruit flag cake, fireworks on the lake, followed by a bonfire complete with smores. I love that now I can share it every year with my kids!
What a lovely blog! We just saw your post for the homemade rain sticks on Skip to my Lou. We're definitely going to try that out. Thanks!
My favorite part about the fourth of July is homemade ice cream!
We go to a church picnic at someone's house who has a great view of the local fireworks from their back yard.
We go to a city-wide festival in the park. It's always too hot and noisy, but we love it. Music, face-painting, food... summer!
