If you are on the market for a cooler that’s affordable and portable then this delonghi pinguino portable air conditioner is definitely worth considering.
Delonghi Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner Reviews – 12,000 BTU Overview
Firstly, let me start of my talking about the design and general build quality of this air conditioner. The design is quite simple but it does have quite a classy look especially in person. The plastic that it is made from feels strong and well-made particularly when compared to other AC’s I have used at this price range, which in comparison feel flimsy. This unit has the power of 12,000 BTU which can cool a room up to 450 square feet. In layman’s terms, this means it’s ideal for most bedrooms but if you wanted to use it in a larger room like a living room or bathroom it may not be powerful enough.
If you have a smaller room where you want to use this AC then the Delonghi may be a great choice. This isn’t just because of the size which is on the smaller size when compared to other AC’s but because there is only air intake vents on the backside alongside with the exhaust pipe. What that basically means is everything is done/accessed through the back side of the AC. When compared with some other AC’s you have the leave space on either side for exhaust/intake pipe etc; though here with this one you don’t need that space at all. So, these options make it a great choice for a room that you don’t have a lot of space along with being easy to move around and quite portable.
When setting up the exhaust pipe, it feels secure and clicks right into place. Once it’s in place it feels secure but still has some wiggle room if you were to knock it.
Another great feature that is included with this AC is the built-in dehumidifier. You don’t usually have that option especially on more affordable AC’s like this one. Also, when you are using it, it evaporates the condensation water instead of having to routinely having to empty the water yourself like other air conditioners.
This Delonghi AC also has a remote so you can control it without having to leave your bed or desk or whatever else. The remote is also quite nice quality with an LCD screen which displays the target temperature as you adjust it. Other coolers I have used have a remote but you just had to click the up or down bottom on the temperature without knowing exactly what temperature you have set. Here with this one you won’t have that problem.
One downside or thing you should know before you purchase this cooler is that it is the best fit for an average bedroom. The power of 12,000 BTU isn’t enough for bigger rooms so make sure your room is 450 square feet or less for optimal performance.
The fan has 3 speeds which you can adjust and works as you would imagine. Even on the highest setting the AC is really quiet which is nice if you need a quiet room when sleeping or whatever else.
Overall this Delonghi Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner is a great buy, it offers portability, great build quality, nice additional features and all at a surprisingly low price point.
