I'm always on the lookout for fun, parent-friendly children's music (I can't stand The Wiggles and The Doodlebops, but I'll admit I'm partial to the nostalgia of Sesame Street :). If you're looking for a few recommendations, I've written a bit on my blog.

There's some great cd mixes you at onewaystreet dot com. I love there books of the bibles song and so do my kids. they also remade a few secular songs and just changed the lyrics... my son giggles everytime.

I wanted to recommend CDs I use often in my classroom. They are by Dr. Jean Feldman. She is wonderful and has great songs that my 3 year old loves, my kindergarteners, even big girls like yours!

You can also use an MP3 player for this. Many now have speakers or you can buy them on the cheep. A lot of them can be plugged through a car radio system too.

We asked the kids Aunt and Uncle to get them MP3 players for Christmas 2 years ago. They were small things - found in the Wal-Mart toy isle, ate batteries, but the girls LOVED them. I liked that I could put all kinds of books, sermons, educational talks, educational songs, AWANA verses, whatever I could find (and a LOT can be had for free). They could also record things for themselves.

Joel got a FP3 player by Fisher Price. It eats batteries too and is not as flexible. You have to convert items from an exsisting CD.

BUT, this Christmas, the girls got Mosaic Zens. They hold a LOT more, and have built in speakers. They also have all of the family pictures on them as jpg files. Kendra leaves hers with Vannan on Sunday mornings, to record the morning sermon. She helps me in Junior church. Then she listens later.

You can use the record feature to record some of your childs favorite stories for car trips.

I'm planning to ask for Joel a "better" Mp3 player for next year. New baby sister can use the FP3 player after she is born. :)

What a great idea - think I'll look through our playlists and CD's this weekend for something similar!
