The things that intrigue kids, that keep them busy for hours, often surprise me. Like when my nephew opens his birthday gift and is more interested in playing with the sparkly wrapping paper than the new toy. Or when the girls would rather play with old buttons than their fancy, colorful board games.
The same is true at bathtime. Although they have the typical rubber duckies and foam alphabet letters, their favorite things to play with are empty bottles that once held shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, or bubble bath. They fill them up and pour water over their head and their sister's head. They transfer water back and forth from one bottle to the other. They pretend they are mixing and baking and cleaning.
It seems that sometimes the simplest things allow the most room for imagination.

i totally agree! my boys are very into boxes lately. the yard is littered with lizard traps, bird nests, and snake homes that bear pictures of refried beans, corn and soda. i love when they use their imagination. i'm a friend of lisa's by the way. my son thought you and lisa were matty and david's two mommies :)
I love when they use their imagination! The cost is priceless! :)
