This morning my girls both wanted to take a flower from our garden to their grandma. What a sweet idea. But how to get them from A to B in this hot weather and safe from their little fingers that like to pick and pull and smash?
I started rifling through the recycle bin. I pulled out a couple soda cans...perfect! They have a small mouth, just right for one flower, and they fit perfectly into the van's cupholders, so they won't tip or leak when they are filled with water.
I used doublestick tape to wrap white paper around the cylinder, and then the girls stuck flowery stickers all over.
Super simple and quick! There were no spills, and grandma didn't have to hunt for a vase when the girls (proudly) presented their gifts. These soda can vases accomplished their purpose perfectly.

Love it. Sweet and simple just like you!
Amazing. You are so creative...I never would have been able to think of that! Thanks for sharing your smarts with us!
You are giving Martha Stewart a run for her money with these last blogs. So let me ask you this- I have a bunch of those little plastic apples from the Martinelli's apple juice sold at Costco...they were too cute to throw away, but what can we make from them??? Thanks, Martha-OOPS- I mean, Chrissie!
Thanks so much for your sweet comments. So encouraging.
I LOVE those little martinelli's bottles. They are definitely too cute to throw away.
They're so sweet in their simplicity, it seems like a shame to cover them up. (Unlike soda cans.)
I think they'd be darling as vases, all in a line, with one white daisy in each.
They could be a centerpiece for a buffet table or outdoor bbq.
Oh wait, I was thinking of the glass martinelli's bottles. I'll have to do more research on the plastic apples.
Maybe it's time to get a Costco membership?!
Adorable! I told my cousin about your site and she likes it, too. Not only great projects but you are a wonderful photographer. Wish I could do as well. I'm a way better digital scrapbooker (with OTHER people's awesome photos) than I am a photographer! What kind of camera do you have, if you don't mind sharing the info? Love your other blog, too!
that is such a fun, simple idea. beautiful photos, beautiful flowers, beautiful girls.
Perfect!! I love this idea for a travelling bloom. Your hibiscus is stunning, too! I have one but it's a peach, ruffly variety and is a bit stingy with its blooms.
