Road Trip Scavenger Hunt

Last weekend we went on a little road trip to Grammy's and Pop Pop's house. The drive can get long for the little ones, so I made up this game to keep them interested and busy.

They each had this scavenger hunt page (above) on a clipboard. I tied a piece of string to the clipboard and taped a washable marker to the end of the string so they wouldn't lose it.

We looked high and low for each item on the list-police car, fire engine, dog, horse, ferris wheel, train, taxi, freeway overpass, airplane, and tow truck.

It was so fun! We all really got into it. The drive never went so fast!

Feel free to click to enlarge our scavenger hunt page above and print it. Or you can make your own page, more suited to your part of the world.

This is great! I love car ideas that have nothing to do with DVD players!

Great idea! I've been wanting to make a scavenger hunt for the grocery store, but I couldn't figure out how to attach a crayon so it wouldn't get lost. A string and tape...duh! I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks!!! I love all of your ideas (and my girls do, too!).

Great idea! I too have the travel Bingo cards. I like your idea because the kids can write on the paper, rather than sliding the spaces closed. Anything done a bit differently can be a whole new adventure! It also seems well suited for younger children. The spaces on our travel Bingo cards are pretty small for little ones. Keep the ideas coming. Thanks!
