First we whipped up a batch of washable fingerpaints. I found this recipe on Thrifty Fun.
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
2 cups water
1/4 cup dishwashing soap
food coloring
Put the sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan and then slowly mix in cold water. Cook the mixture over low heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly until you have a smooth gel. Let this cool and then add dishwashing soap. Divide into as many containers as you would like colors and then mix in food coloring drops until you have you desired color.
Then we headed to the backyard to make messy murals.
We really got into it! The girls loved the smooth texture of the paints, and it came out of their clothes, too.

How neat. I've never had a fingerpaint recipe. This is great. The girls seem like they loved it.

This is awesome! LOVE the photos, especially of the girls and their paintings, and the wooden board holding the various colors in their little bowls and all the different colored drops splattered here and there. I wish my kids were still little! Well, someday the grandkids will come along....!!!
