There are a host of different generators on the market to choose from, some offer better build quality than others, some have better portability, some have tremendous runtime and some are ultra-quiet. There are very few offerings that can live up to each of those elements but this Champion Power equipment generator certainly does. After considering a host of different generators and reading a bunch of Champion 3100W Inverter generator reviews I decided to try it out for myself to see if it really lived up to the hype. Let me explain why below.

First off let me talk about this generators build quality and durability. The overall structure and materials used are 2nd to none, it feels strong – it’s made from a hard plastic with a bright yellow lick of paint. There is a normal handle for carrying and another handle which extends and the generator can be pulled along on the wheels. So, having this makes an already light and portable generator more practical even for someone who may struggle to carry something a bit more weighty – this weighs in at about 80 pounds for reference. You can see in the picture below the handle looks short but I can assure you that you won’t have to hunch over to pull it along I am 6ft and I can pull it along when I am standing up with no issues.
This generator has 3100 starting watts and 2800 running watts. When it comes to outlets it most certainly has all the options you should need including a 120V 30A, 12v DC Outlets and of course 2 120V 20A household outlets. This makes it functional for a host of different uses and you can use it for each so its flexible for different uses and situations.
When it comes to the noise it produces it definitely is a massive selling point for a generator that is very powerful when cranked up to full – it’s an extremely quiet generator actually one of the quietest generator I have ever used. It operates at 50-60dB which is very quiet and even could be used at night-time at a campsite for example – check out this table so you can better understand how much the decibel count compares to real life examples.
Regarding the runtime I was personally able to get 6-8 hours of runtime depending on the power usage, for me it was typically anywhere from 25% load to 75%. There is also an economy mode which basically stops the generators from producing more power than is needed, so you don’t have any power wastage and you get longer run times by about 10-20%. So, for me I was using the economy mode almost all the time, but I feel if you think you need the most power possible then running with it turned off can also be an option.
It’s also worth mentioning that is particular generator comes with a 3 year warranty which is always a good sign of a quality product. One final thing I would like to mention is that if you do decide to buy this generator you should “burn” the generator in basically, for instance 1 hour at 0% load then 1 hour at 25% load and so on. I figured I should mention this because some people may forget to read the manual and just fire it up instead.
If you hadn’t already guessed this is one of my favorite portable generators on the market, it offers everything you need from a generator all at a very competitive price point that’s making their competitiors shake in their boots I am sure!
